    Swiss Federal laws govern who can buy property in Switzerland, and under what conditions - and different provisions also apply in each of the 22 cantons or states (such as Berne, Geneva and Vaud). Special (more liberal) rules enable foreigners to purchase property in designated tourist areas such as Gstaad... Good article here:
